István Eszterhás was a Hungarian educator, cave researcher, and volcanologist born on January 24, 1941, in Eger. He graduated with a teaching degree in geography-biology-art in 1964 and served as the deputy headmaster and then headmaster of Isztiméri Elementary School from 1967 until retirement. He led the Hungarian Karst and Cave Research Society's Volcanic Speleology Collective and published extensively on cave studies. He was recognized as a notable researcher and became an honorary citizen of Isztimér in 2004. He passed away on August 2, 2020.
