He is a distinguished academic, serving as an honorary vice president of the United Nations University and a professor emeritus at the University of Tokyo. Since 2020, he has held the position of Executive Fellow at Backcast Technology Institute. In addition, Yasui has served as the chairman of the Nuclear Subcommittee of the Agency for Natural Resources and Energy, contributing his expertise to significant energy policies in Japan.
