He gained fame in Latin America for hits like 'Me dices que te vas' and 'Vagabundo'. Starting his career in 1973, Cruz later transitioned to boleros in 1975, achieving significant success with over 300 singles and a career spanning more than four decades. He was also an evangelical Christian preacher and struggled with alcoholism throughout his life. He passed away on November 6, 2023.
