Ivan Eľko, born on December 6, 1964, in Myjava, is a Slovak Lutheran priest and the General Bishop of the Evangelical Church of the Augsburg Confession in Slovakia. He graduated from the Slovak Evangelical Theological Faculty in Bratislava and has served in various congregations. Eľko was senior of the Danube-Nitra seniorate from 2006 to 2012, became the chairman of the synod in 2017, and was elected General Bishop in 2018. He also serves as the chairman of the Ecumenical Council of Churches in Slovakia.
