Ivan Todorov Kelchev was a partisan from the 'Georgi Benkovski' partisan brigade and an activist of the RMS, hailing from Koprivshtitsa. A spirited rebel, he joined the youth organization of the Bulgarian Communist Party. During World War II, he was conscripted into the army, but he deserted and became a fighter in the partisan ranks under the command of his friend Ivan Vracsev. He died on July 8, 1944, during a mission near Starosel while attempting to save his comrade.
