Ivan Preissler (1953-2002) was a Czech abstract painter and mail artist, known for his anti-communist activities in Czechoslovakia before emigrating to the West in 1985. After studying painting in Madrid, he settled in Chicago and later New York, gaining recognition for his artworks exhibited worldwide. Preissler returned to Prague in 1991 but faced health issues that limited his activity. Despite hardships, he contributed to various Mail Art publications and explored theological and philosophical themes. He passed away in 2002, leading to a retrospective exhibition in 2004, commemorating his contributions to art.
