Ivan Kuzmich Savelyev was a Russian poet, prose writer, and translator who published over thirty books of poetry and journalism, along with seven novels. He was awarded the International Prize named after M. A. Sholokhov and is a cavalier of the V. V. Mayakovsky Order. Since 1990, he led the apparatus of the Commission for Cultural Heritage of the Supreme Soviet of the RSFSR. He has been a member of the Union of Writers of Russia since 1972.
