Ivan Shapovalov is a composer and producer known for creating the Russian pop duo t.A.T.u, which consists of Lena Katina and Yulia Volkova. He initially selected Lena Katina, who recorded a series of auditions including 'Yugoslavia' and 'Belochka', and later added Yulia Volkova to the group. Shapovalov controversially urged them to portray a lesbian relationship for fame and profit. The duo gained significant popularity but separated from him in 2004.
