Ivica Rajić, born on May 5, 1958, was a commander in the Croatian Defense Council during the Bosnian War (1992-1995) and was later convicted of war crimes. He was responsible for atrocities including the massacre in Stupni Do in 1993, where numerous Bosniaks were killed and abused. After evading capture for years, he was arrested in 2003, tried, and in 2006 sentenced to 12 years. His cooperation with the prosecution and expressed remorse were considered mitigating factors. Rajić was released early in 2011 after serving eight years of his sentence.
