J Allard, born James Allard on January 12, 1969, in Glens Falls, New York, is a vice president at Microsoft and head of XNA architecture. He oversaw the design and development of Xbox and its peripherals, as well as Xbox Live. Allard’s efforts contributed to the launch of the Xbox 360 in 2005. Known for his quote in 1995 about Windows being a 'killer app' for the Internet, he graduated from Boston University with a degree in computer science and is known in Xbox Live by the nickname 'HiroProtagonist'. He also managed the development of Microsoft Zune.
