Born on January 7, 1971, in Lombard, Illinois, he grew up in Crystal Lake and Englewood, Florida. He started writing as a teenager and gained early experience in the publishing industry. His debut horror novel 'Forsaken' came out in 2014, receiving critical acclaim and a Bram Stoker nomination. He co-authored with Dacre Stoker to write a sequel to 'Dracula' and has created a successful series featuring Detective Sam Porter.
