Air Vice-Marshal James Ernest Akrong Kotei was a notable Ghanaian military pilot and diplomat, born on 26 October 1940. He served as the Chief of Air Staff of the Ghana Air Force from December 1982 to June 1988 and later as Ghana's Ambassador to the Ivory Coast and Guinea. Kotei began his military career as a MiG-17 pilot before switching to the Su-7 ground attack aircraft. He was a key figure in the Ghana Air Force and made significant contributions to Ghanaian diplomacy until his death on 25 April 2010.
