She serves as a Member of Parliament for the Bellary constituency in Karnataka during the 15th Lok Sabha. Notable for her political lineage, she is the sister of B Sriramulu. In a recent political shift, Shantha joined the YSR Congress Party on January 2, 2024, where she was announced as the party's candidate for the Hindupur constituency for the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha Elections.
