He studied at Kärdla Secondary School until 1972 and later pursued a degree in theater directing at Tallinn Pedagogical University, graduating in 1976. His career included roles as the editor-in-chief of Hiiumaa newspaper and as a journalist for Kadi Radio. Additionally, he served as a public relations advisor for various governmental bodies. In 2009, he ran for local council elections in Kärdla as part of the Estonian Center Party.
