Jacob (Jaap) Beekman was a Dutch resistance fighter during World War II. He served in the Dutch army before the war but was disarmed by German forces. Beekman joined the resistance and managed to escape to England, later training as an organizer and weapons instructor. He married Yolande Unternäher, who was shot in Dachau, and later wed Kathleen Mary Pickering. Beekman actively participated in the resistance until the end of the war and passed away in Zwolle at nearly 91 years of age.
