E.J. (Jaap) Gelok is a Dutch politician affiliated with the PvdA. He began his career in education in 1972 and later transitioned into politics. He served as an alderman in Valkenisse starting in 1994, and after the municipality was merged into Veere, he continued in that role. Gelok became mayor of Strijen in 1999 and returned to Zeeland as the mayor of Borsele three years later. He announced his retirement in early 2017, with Gerben Dijksterhuis appointed as his successor.
