Jan Jacob (Jaap) van Zorge is a Dutch politician from the PvdA, born on July 5, 1934, in Wetering, Netherlands. He studied sociology and began his career at the Ministry of Agriculture in 1964, later working at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and as a municipal clerk in Friesland. He served as mayor of Dwingeloo from 1973 to 1984 and as mayor of Odoorn until his early retirement in 1995. Van Zorge was known for supporting the tradition of collecting lapwing eggs and made public stands on related issues.
