Robert Knox 'Jack' Cope (1913–1991) was a South African writer renowned for his novels, short stories, and poetry. He is notably remembered for his romantic relationship with South African poet Ingrid Jonker in the early 1960s. Cope maintained a 20-year association with the bilingual literary magazine Contrast starting in 1960. He authored eight novels, including The Fair House and The Rain-Maker, as well as three poetry collections and several short story compilations. His literary contributions earned him the Central News Agency Prize for Literature in 1971 for his work The Rain-Maker.
