Lawrence 'Jack' Imel was an American musician, singer, dancer, and television producer, recognized for his role on The Lawrence Welk Show. He started tap dancing at four and switched to marimba later. After serving in the U.S. Navy, he auditioned for Welk's show, debuting in 1957. Initially viewed as a show-off, he adapted by playing unique percussion instruments. He became an associate producer and collaborated with Mary Lou Metzger in the 1970s. Known for wearing animal costumes, he retired from performing in 2008 but remained involved in entertainment, serving on the audition committee for a local show.
