Jack Simons is an American chemist specializing in theoretical and quantum chemistry, particularly of anions. He obtained his Bachelor's degree in chemistry in 1967 and completed his Ph.D. in 1970. He has been a professor at the University of Utah since 1971 and made significant contributions to the field, including developing the Equations of Motion method for calculating electron affinities and researching molecular anions. He has authored a theoretical chemistry textbook and received several accolades, including the Joseph O. Hirschfelder Prize. Simons is also an avid skier and hiker.
