Jackie Day, born Jacquelene Mary Baldain, was an American soul singer-songwriter. She grew up in Shreveport, Louisiana, later moved to San Francisco, and became a mother at 17. After marrying saxophonist Big Jay McNeely in 1960, she began her music career, recording singles for various labels. Despite facing challenges, including her mother's death and the loss of her collaborator Maxwell Davis, she remained dedicated to songwriting. Her recordings were later compiled in 2011. Jackie died on January 4, 2007, after being in a coma.
