David Jackson Carlaw CBE, born on April 12, 1959, is a Scottish politician who served as the leader of the Scottish Conservative Party from February to July 2020. He was previously the Deputy Leader of the party from 2011 to 2019 and has been a Member of the Scottish Parliament (MSP) since 2007. Carlaw, who grew up in Newton Mearns, worked as a car salesman before entering politics. He represented the West Scotland region and later the Eastwood constituency. He stepped down from party leadership, citing a lack of suitability for the upcoming elections.
