Mário Augusto de Almeida Neto, known as Jacó, is a Brazilian politician born on July 17, 1965, in Jacobina. He studied agroecology in Irecê and became active in social movements in the 1990s. He founded the Centro de Assessoria do Assuruá (CAA) and contributed to the formation of the Articulação do Semiárido Brasileiro (ASA). Elected in 2018 as a state deputy for the PT, Jacó advocates for social movements and currently chairs the Human Rights Commission in Bahia's Legislative Assembly, focusing on anti-racism and cultural support initiatives.
