Jaco Van Dormael is a Belgian director and screenwriter born on February 9, 1957, in Brabant, Belgium. He faced critical health challenges at birth, as his umbilical cord wrapped around his neck led to a lack of oxygen to his brain, but he survived. Van Dormael has created nine short films and three feature films including 'Toto the Hero' (1991) and 'The Eighth Day' (1996), both well-received by critics and audiences. After a 13-year hiatus, he returned with 'Mr. Nobody' in 2009, which took him six years to write.
