He earned his PhD in 1949 at Leiden University and held various academic positions, including professorships at the University of Wisconsin and the University of California, San Diego. He focused on complex analysis, Tauberian theorems, and Fourier analysis. Korevaar received the Chauvenet Prize in 1989 and the Lester Randolph Ford Award in 1987. He is a fellow of the American Mathematical Society and served as director of the Mathematical Institute at the University of Amsterdam.
