He earned his doctorate from Utrecht University and worked at Philips Natuurkundig Laboratorium, where he contributed to solid-state physics and was known for significant developments like Ferroxcube and the Snoek effect. After the war, he was engaged by Horizons Research, Inc. He tragically died in a car accident on December 3, 1950, and is buried at Lake View Cemetery in Cleveland.
