Jacob Sicka Aharoni was an Israeli fighter in the Irgun, a publicist, educator, journalist, poet, and author. Born on February 21, 1921, he was known for his role as a Shofar blower at the Western Wall during the British Mandate. He also led an Irgun operation in Iraq that saved many Jews during the Farhud, a violent pogrom against Jews in 1941. Aharoni contributed significantly to Israeli literature and activism until his passing on November 21, 2022.
