After working as a journalist, he transitioned into business, founding Nedac Agenturen Combinatie and Sorbo Nederland, where he developed innovative distribution techniques. He briefly served in the Dutch Parliament representing the Dutch Middle Class Party before founding the Democratic Middle Party. De Jong was also a creative figure known for his advertising work and established the Pro Demo foundation to analyze democratic misuse. He passed away on November 22, 1991, in Zutphen.
