Jacques Dominique Ducuing, born in 1932 in Tarbes, is a French engineer and professor known for his work in optics. He was a professor at the University of Paris XI and the École Polytechnique. Ducuing founded and directed the Quantum Optics Laboratory at CNRS. He served as the general director of CNRS but resigned after two years in protest. Later, he held executive positions in various companies and became the deputy secretary general of NATO.
