Jacques Meertens is a Dutch clarinetist born on April 16, 1948. He served as the principal clarinetist of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra from September 1990 until his retirement in April 2013. He studied at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam under Bram de Wilde, a former principal clarinetist at the Concertgebouw. Prior to joining the Concertgebouw Orchestra, he was a clarinetist for the Nederlands Balletorkest and Noordhollands Philharmonisch Orkest in Haarlem. He plays on a German Reform-Boehm system clarinet.
