Jagdeep Dhankhar is an Indian politician who currently serves as the 14th Vice President of India. Born on May 18, 1951, he previously held the position of Governor of West Bengal. Dhankhar is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and served as the Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs in the Chandrasekhar ministry. In 2022, he was nominated as the vice-presidential candidate by the National Democratic Alliance and was elected as Vice President after defeating his opponent Margaret Alva supported by the United Democratic Alliance.
