He was instrumental in reviving this poetic form and collaborated with his famous wife, Geeta Singh, during the 1970s and 1980s. Jagjit released over 90 albums throughout his career spanning five decades, receiving critical acclaim and commercial success. He was awarded the Padma Bhushan by the Government of India in 2003. His music incorporated classical influences, and he engaged in various charitable efforts.
