Jake Copass (April 18, 1920 – June 8, 2006) was a cowboy poet from Texas, who lived in the Santa Ynez Valley. After working as a wrangler at the Alisal Guest Ranch since 1946, he became known for his storytelling and poetry about the cowboy life. He emphasized the importance of values like honesty to children and published a book of poetry titled 'It Don't Hurt to Laugh' and a memoir called 'I'll Be Satisfied.' Copass passed away in 2006 after a brief illness.
