Jamal Rayyan, born on August 23, 1953, in Tulkarm, is a Palestinian journalist and news presenter. His family migrated to Tulkarm from one of the villages of Yafo after the Naksa in 1948. He holds Jordanian citizenship and was the first news anchor on Al Jazeera when it launched in 1996, after his career at the BBC. Rayyan is known for his significant role in establishing the news broadcasting standards at Al Jazeera.
