James Ortese Iorzua Ayatse, Tor Tiv V, born on May 12, 1956, is a prominent Nigerian academic and the Paramount Ruler of the Tiv Nation in Benue State. He is notable for being the first Tiv man to serve as a professor and to hold the vice-chancellorship in two federal universities. Ayatse was elected on December 20, 2016, and crowned on March 4, 2017. Unlike his predecessor, he took his oath of office swearing by the Christian Bible. His leadership is recognized for its moral authority and integrity, as noted by President Mohammadu Buhari.
