James Phillip Barnes (1962-2023) was an American murderer and self-identified serial killer executed in Florida for the 1988 rape and murder of Patricia Miller. He confessed to the crime in 2005 after converting to Islam while serving a life sentence for the 1997 murder of his wife. In 2012, Barnes appeared in the first episode of Werner Herzog's documentary series On Death Row, where he confessed to additional unsolved murders, although he was not charged.
