James Braid (1912-1999) was a Scottish nationalist politician known for his political involvement with the Scottish National Party (SNP) and service as a councillor. He served as a pilot in the RAF during World War II and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. Braid held several political roles, including provost of St Monans, and was a prominent figure at SNP conferences. He unsuccessfully ran for parliamentary seats multiple times but became the longest-serving councillor in Scotland by the time of his death.
