James Robert Crosby is an English banker born on 14 March 1956. He served as Deputy Chairman of the Financial Services Authority from January 2004 until his resignation in February 2006. Previously, Crosby was the chief executive of Halifax Bank, leading up to its merger with the Bank of Scotland to create HBOS, where he was CEO until 2006. In 2012, he appeared before Britain's Parliamentary Commission on Banking Standards. He was knighted for his services to finance in 2006 but requested the honour be revoked in 2013 due to the HBOS collapse report.
