James Edward Pitts is a vice admiral in the United States Navy, currently serving as the deputy chief of naval operations for warfighting requirements and capabilities since December 2023. He previously held the position of Director of Warfare Integration from 2020 to 2023 and commanded Submarine Group 7. A graduate of the United States Naval Academy in 1986 with a degree in mechanical engineering, Pitts later earned a Master's in national security affairs in 1992. He was nominated for vice admiral in April 2023.
