James (Jim) Henry Merrill Jr. is a former Republican politician who served in the South Carolina House of Representatives for the 99th District from 2001 until 2017. His political career ended amidst a corruption investigation, leading to his suspension in 2016 and subsequent resignation on August 31, 2017, after pleading guilty to an ethics violation. He is also related to author Myra Lewis Williams through his father, a US Military veteran.
