James R. Larus is an accomplished American computer scientist known for his expertise in programming languages, compilers, and computer architecture. He has held significant academic and research positions, notably serving as the Dean of the School of Computer and Communication Sciences at EPFL from 2014 to 2021. Prior to this, he was a Principal Researcher at Microsoft Research, leading important projects such as Orleans and Singularity. Additionally, Larus was an associate professor at the University of Wisconsin–Madison in the Computer Science department.
