James Michael Holmes is a retired United States Air Force general, born on April 12, 1957. He served as the Deputy Chief of Staff for Strategic Plans and Requirements at the Headquarters United States Air Force in Washington, D.C. Subsequently, he became the commander of Air Combat Command on March 10, 2017. Holmes was succeeded by Mark D. Kelly and officially retired on October 1, 2020.
