James Stewart Souter was an English first-class cricketer born on February 13, 1923, in Kanpur, British India. He was educated at Haileybury and Brasenose College, Oxford. His studies were interrupted by his service in the Royal Air Force during World War II, where he was promoted to flying officer. After the war, he returned to Oxford and played three first-class matches in 1948, scoring a total of 47 runs. Souter passed away on October 21, 1999, at the age of 76, in East Sussex.
