Jan Eisenga was a Frisian educator, writer, and poet born on March 11, 1908, in Koartsweagen. He contributed essays, reviews, and columns to the newspaper Woudklank and was involved in several organizations supporting the Frisian language. As a teacher in De Gordyk, he encouraged parents to keep their children home during a labor strike in 1943 to show solidarity. Eisenga was captured for his actions and executed on May 5, 1943, in Ljouwert. His body was never recovered, and he is believed to be buried in Appelbergen, Drenthe.
