Bengt Jan-Erik Kuoksu (1942-2017) was a Swedish priest and artist born in Jukkasjärvi. He studied oil painting in Paris and at Gerlesborgsskolan in Stockholm. Kuoksu was ordained a priest in 1975 and served as Vicar in Jukkasjärvi from 1984 to 2009, contributing to the church's activities at the Icehotel. He began his artistic career in the 1980s, featuring mountain and Laestadian-themed paintings in exhibitions from 1994 until shortly before his death. In 2003, he adopted his family's original surname, Kuoksu, which he had previously changed to Johansson.
