Jan Kristian Schøning Jansen was a notable Norwegian physiologist born on January 16, 1931, in Oslo. He specialized in neurophysiology, receiving his cand.med. degree in 1955 and dr.med. in 1957 with a thesis on the cerebral cortex. Jansen studied at the University Laboratory of Physiology in Oxford and became a professor at the University of Oslo from 1979 to 1995. He was recognized with the Andres Jahre Prize for Young Researchers in 1967 and was an esteemed member of the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters, contributing significantly to his field until his passing on January 8, 2011.
