Jan Kooistra (1938-1992) was a Dutch poet who spent most of his life in Northern Netherlands. He worked as a civil servant in Leek and significantly contributed to the literary and visual arts in the region. His debut poetry collection 'Bij nacht' was published in 1975, followed by over 20 collections, including the posthumous 'De wegen van wezel en hermelijn' in 1994. His works have been translated into multiple languages. Additionally, he was an editor for literary magazines 't Kofschip and De Essayhaas.
