Jan Krol was a Dutch politician of the KVP, born on February 27, 1908, in Baardwijk and died on February 15, 1994, in Heemstede. He served as a municipal secretary before becoming the mayor of Mierlo in 1953 and later of Gilze en Rijen until his retirement in 1973. Krol was also involved in historical writing and was honored as an honorary citizen. He received honors including knighthoods in the Order of Orange-Nassau and the Order of Gregory the Great, as well as the Resistance Memorial Cross.
