Jan Józef Lorys was a Polish Army officer and a diplomat during the Second Polish Republic and the Polish Armed Forces. He was born on December 10, 1915, in Lednica Dolna, Poland, and passed away on May 21, 2001, in London. He participated in the September Campaign and the parachute landing at Arnhem. In 1990, he was promoted to the rank of lieutenant colonel by the Polish government in exile. Lorys was also an émigré activist, historian, and publicist.
