Jan Meijer Drees (1923-1999) was the first Dutch graduate in helicopter studies from TU Delft. He designed the NHI H-3 'Kolibri', the only helicopter ever designed and produced in the Netherlands. The design began under the SOBEH in 1951, which was liquidated in 1955, leading to the formation of NHI. Drees joined Bell in 1958. The NHI remained in production until 1961. He received the Grover E. Bell Award in 1972 for his innovative contributions to helicopter development.
